A Poem for Christmas

Christmas is coming. Christmas is here. The most wonderful time of the year Is drawing nearer and nearer. My spirit should be singing full of yuletide cheer, Hardly containing the seasons jolly atmosphere. But snow isn't falling  And carolers aren't calling That beautiful sound is drowned By the clinging and clanging of greed's awful shout. What once was a time of celebrating Savior's birth Is now proclaimed He never came to Earth. His name is in the title But we've exchanged it for lies His precious gift that cost him his life Cut and shredded  all over again By society's placating knife. Families aren't gathered by the tree anymore Too busy blindly building their future deplore. So many lost to the demands of purchase and buy But never understanding the meaning of giving with sacrifice So for Christmas this year Don't expect presents  Tied with ribbons or bows Don't expect a feast  Of ham, chicken, o...
