The Olive Tree

Psalm 52:8,"But I am like a green olive tree in the house of God:  I trust in the mercy of God for ever and ever." I read this scripture and I asked myself,"What is so great about an olive tree?" Then I did a little research and found some interesting tidbits about this particular tree. Two of those tidbits helped me understand what I believe the writer was talking about.    First, the olive tree can withstand virtually any weather condition. Secondly, when an olive tree's trunk is cut or even burned, new shoots will still emerge from the tree's roots. That's why they are considered to live forever.     In my mind, the olive tree is an unyielding, relentless, steadfast chunk of trunk. After researching, I thought about what I learned and how that pertained to the scripture. I decided that just like David, I want to be like that determined tree. I want to be steadfast in my relationship with God. In my short twenty-four years on Earth, life ...

A Great Man

It was late in the morning when I was praying for my husband. I try to do that everyday but there are days I fall short. Today was not one of those days. Yay! Today I was determined to say a special prayer just for my hubby. I pray in various ways. Today I prayed by writing my prayer out. I logged on to my Two Shall Become One pinterest board and scanned through the many prayers for marriages I have pinned on that particular board. Skimming through I found an inspiring post to help articulate my special prayer. I did not follow that at all. I read it and said "God, I just want to talk about my husband." I began writing about his character, his flaws, his integrity, his love for me, his abilities, his potential, his skills, his leadership, his concerns, his relationships, our marriage, our future children, and that I would be a good wife to him,    As I wrote out my prayer, I mentioned that I believed God made my husband a great man. After writing that sentence ou...

The Itsy Bitsy Spider

Image
"The itsy bitsy spider went up the water spout Down came the rain and washed the spider out Up came the sun and dried up all the rain And the itsy bitsy spider went up the spout again"    I never thought I would hear the famous children's rhyme,"The Itsy Bitsy Spider" sung in Sunday school but a room of excited children convinced the guest singer that it was necessary. "Well I'm not sure how it ties into Jesus but give me until the end of the day and I 'll figure it out." I laughed to myself as I listened to the sound of children'ts voices not miss a single word. They sung with joy and poise. The previous worship songs were not chanted with such enthusiasm. And as the day progressed, the itsy bitsy spider would not leave my mind. I found myself asking God in what way could the perseverance of such a creature, a creepy creature that most people fear, send a Godly message. I heard him laugh and immediatly knew he could not wait to ...

This Blog

I'm an amateur. Despite loving to write and share my ideas, I do not always have the words. Writing a blog terrifies me. Not only am I exposing myself but I'm also inviting others to express their opinion of me and my writing technique. With that in mind, I have decided to face my fear and allow others to read my dearest thoughts. This blog is not just about telling people what I think. It is also to encourage others. It is my greatest desire that my words could impact someones life in a positive way. Even if we do not believe the same way, think the same way, or live the same way, I hope to inspire. I also hope to be inspired.    This blog is not centered around a subject or topic or main idea. This blog is about me. It is about who I am and who I hope to become. I think when limits are placed then potential can never be met. I do not have just one thing to write about. I am not passionate about one thing. I am passionate about many things! Many things I hope to share...
